National Night Out is held annually on the first Tuesday in October. This event promotes police / community partnerships to make local communities safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out gives communities the opportunity to meet with their local law enforcement for a night of fun. K9 Officer Cory, a Belgian Malinois from the Lakeway Police Department, was blessed earlier this month by the local church. There were plenty of people — and pooches — in attendance. While the ceremony was open to all local dogs in the area, Cory received a certificate to honor our local police department. Cory was accompanied by her handler, Officer Sheldon Banta.

Meet the LPOA Board Members

  • Joshua Love - President

    Officer Joshua Love has been with the Lakeway Police Department since 2013. He is currently assigned to the Patrol Division. Officer Love began his career with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office in 2008 and has also worked with the Kountze Police Department.

  • Mary Proctor - Vice President

    I began working for the Lakeway Police Department in 1997 as a patrol officer. I spent seven years on patrol where I was promoted to Sergeant. From that position I transitioned into the Community Programs liaison, the training coordinator and background investigator for police and dispatch applicants.

  • Sheldon Banta - Secretary

    Sheldon has a BA from Stephen F. Austin State University. He currently holds an Advanced Peace Officer License from TCOLE.

  • Eric Barto - Sergeant at Arms

    Eric Barto began his Law Enforcement career in September 2008 when he left the Travis County Sheriff’s Office to join the Lakeway Police Department. For several years, Eric was the unofficial face of the Lakeway Police Department as the project manager for Public Safety Day, Haunted House exhibit, Citizen’s Police Academy, National Night Out, and many other community outreach programs.
