Aaron Allan's 6-year-old son to his first day of school August 8th, 2018.  "We wanted to make sure this year we were here for little Aaron to make sure he got to school safe, just like his dad did about a year ago," said Southport Police Chief Tom Vaughn. Taking a closer look at the dangers of being in law enforcement and knowing what has caused several deaths in the line of duty can help officers train more effectively to prevent more deaths in the future. A recent study has been released that outlines the biggest causes of officer deaths. Tip a Hero Event

The Lakeway Police Officers' Association participated in the "Tip a Hero" event for St. Jude's Hospital. Local Law Enforcement, the Fire Department, and Emergency Medical Personell waited on tables at the local Chili's to raise money for cancer research. The event was quite the success as we were ale to raise over $700 in just 3 hours.  Thank you to everyone who came and participated in this event. We had a great time meeting and serving you all.

Next month, Texas voters have the opportunity to make a big difference in the lives of the families of fallen officers. K9 Officer Cory, a Belgian Malinois from the Lakeway Police Department, was blessed earlier this month by the local church. There were plenty of people — and pooches — in attendance. While the ceremony was open to all local dogs in the area, Cory received a certificate to honor our local police department. Cory was accompanied by her handler, Officer Sheldon Banta.
